Jaime Carvalho
Sculptor and co-founder of Galeria Resistência, Jaime de Carvalho is assumedly a naturalist and figurative Portuguese artist with a vast professional career and recognition.
He graduated with a degree in fine arts from the Faculty of Lisbon and soon started to exhibit his work and participate in various artistic events. Early during the study’s period in 2006 and 2008, he was invited to participate as a sculptor’s assistant in the international symposium in Caldas da Rainha, Simpetra. In 2007, he won the Artur Bual Prize from Amadora, and in 2010, Jaime began his specialized master’s degree in sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, obtaining a merit scholarship to finish, in 2012, his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Carrara, Italy.
Of his artistic achievements stands out the participation in international symposiums of sculpture, mostly in stone and wood, in artistic residencies, solo and group shows, and the realization and collaboration on the realization of monumental sculpture, an activity spread publicly and in private collections in countries like Spain, France, Italy, Denmark, Turkey, Moldavia, and Portugal.
