Virgínia Brito

Virgínia’s paintings combine the technic and sophistication of figurative realism with the power and possibility of contemporary painting. Her influences go from the Old Masters to Jenny Saville or Paula Rego. Her subjects go from the particular, with portraits of family, friends, and fellow artists to the general abstract of the human condition. Exploring intimacy, connection, awareness, and disconnection, amongst other concepts.

She is originally from Braga, Portugal, and graduated from the Barcelona Academy of Art in 2020. Her work has been exhibited in several sites in Barcelona, including the Design Museum and the Mutuo Gallery. Virgínia’s latest solo show was held in Mosteiro de Tibães, Braga, Portugal.

With a background in biomedical engineering by the University of Minho, Virgínia now continues to explore life – with a different set of tools.
